Terms of service

Last updated: 24 September 2026

In short: this is a practice tool, not medical care. Stop if it hurts, and see a professional if something's wrong with your voice.

1. Who we are

Trans Voice Coach is provided by Joseph McCleary, United Kingdom. You can reach us at joemccleary0@gmail.com. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that entity, and "you" means you.

2. Agreeing to these terms

By installing or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use it — and if you've already installed it, you can uninstall it at any time with nothing owed either way.

These terms and our privacy policy, which is in the app under Settings, together form the agreement between us.

3. Who can use it

You must be 16 or over to use Trans Voice Coach. The Play Store listing is set to match, and we do not knowingly make the app available to anyone younger.

We ask for no proof of age, and there is no birthday screen. That is deliberate: a self-declared age gate stops nobody, and asking for a date of birth would mean collecting personal information from people we have gone to some trouble not to collect anything from at all.

If you are under 16 and want to work on your voice, please talk to a speech and language therapist or another qualified professional. Voice work carries a real risk of strain and injury, and a voice that is still changing needs advice from someone who can hear it.

4. What this app is, and what it isn't

Trans Voice Coach is a practice tool. It offers exercises and information to help you work on your speaking voice yourself, and it listens while you practise so it can show you numbers about what your voice is doing — how it measures those numbers, and what it does and doesn't keep, is set out in the privacy policy. It is not a substitute for judgement: it can tell you a pitch or a resonance reading, but it can't tell you whether what you're doing is a good idea for your voice tonight, and it won't reliably notice if you're straining.

It is not medical care, and it is not speech and language therapy. We are not your clinicians. The app does not diagnose anything, does not assess whether your voice is healthy, and cannot replace a qualified speech and language therapist. The exercises in it are general techniques, not treatment prescribed for you, and the numbers it shows you are measurements, not medical readings.

Voice training carries a genuine risk of strain or injury if it is done with too much force, for too long, or through discomfort. Sessions are kept to ten minutes and the app explains how to look after your voice, and includes a regular pause to ask how your voice feels — but it can't feel what you're feeling, and a number on screen is not a substitute for stopping when something hurts.

You are responsible for stopping when something hurts. If your voice is painful, hoarse or tired for more than a few days, or if you lose your voice, stop using the app and speak to a speech and language therapist or your GP. If you already have a voice condition, or have had voice surgery, please get advice from your clinician before using this.

5. Your data

The app uses your microphone to measure your voice while you practise, but it never records what it hears — see the privacy policy for exactly how that works. It keeps a note of your practice, including the numbers it measured, on your phone and nowhere else. We have no copy of it. What it keeps, and how to delete it, is set out in the privacy policy.

6. Our content

The exercises, articles, software and design in the app belong to us or are licensed to us. We give you permission to use them personally, on your own devices, for as long as you use the app.

Please don't copy, republish, sell or redistribute them, extract them in bulk, or use them to build a competing product. If you'd like to use something for teaching or research, just ask — the answer will usually be yes.

7. Using it reasonably

Don't try to break the app, interfere with it, or get around its technical limits. Don't use it to harass anyone or do anything unlawful. Beyond that, use it however suits you — including as little or as much as you like.

8. Availability and changes

The app works entirely on your phone and doesn't rely on any server of ours, so it keeps working whatever happens to us.

We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something significant, we'll tell you in advance.

9. Cost

The app is currently free. If we introduce paid features later, we'll say clearly what's included before you pay for anything, and the daily practice session will remain free.

Any paid features will be sold through the Google Play Store, and Google's own terms will cover payment, refunds and cancellation alongside your statutory rights.

10. If something goes wrong

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. Your rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by anything written here.

Subject to that: the app is provided as it is, and we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable when you started using the app, or for any loss of data on your device. The app doesn't back up your practice history, so it is lost if you remove the app or lose the phone.

11. Ending it

You can stop using the app whenever you like, and delete it with nothing owed. Your practice notes stay on your phone until you delete them or remove the app.

We may end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. If we do, clauses 6 and 10 continue to apply.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect, and you're free to stop using the app if you don't accept it. We won't apply changes retrospectively.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.

If something's gone wrong, please email us first — most things are quicker to sort out directly than formally.
