Your voice never leaves your phone.
This page is the plain-language version. The full privacy policy says the same thing in more detail, and it is the one that counts.
What the app keeps, and where
| What | Why | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Numbers from your daily reading | Your pitch, so Progress can compare then with now. | Your phone only |
| The days and minutes you practised | For the calendar, the streak and where you are in the course. | Your phone only |
| Recordings of your reading | Only if you choose to keep one, to play beside a newer one later. | Your phone only, never in the export |
| Fish Baby’s journal and wardrobe | The creatures you’ve spotted and the hats you’ve found. | Your phone only |
| Your settings | Reminder time, light or dark, and the like. | Your phone only |
All of it is deleted with one button: Settings, then Delete everything. Uninstalling the app removes it too. Your phone's own backup is switched off for this app, so nothing goes to the cloud that way either.
What it never does
- Ask you to make an account
- Show adverts
- Use analytics or tracking
- Send crash reports
- Upload your voice, or any numbers from it
- Ask for your name, email or date of birth
- Use your location or contacts
- Score your gender
When the microphone is on
Only while a session, Fish Baby, free practice or your first reading is open on screen. It turns off the moment you leave. Nothing listens in the background, ever.
While it's on, your voice is turned into numbers frame by frame, in memory, and the sound itself is thrown away. Nothing is written to a file unless you've chosen to keep a reading.
If you're not out to everyone
The reminder is off until you turn it on, and its words never mention voices or gender. Your phone does show the app's name above any notification, and we can't change that. If it's a worry, leave the reminder off, or set your phone to hide notification content on the lock screen.
The app's name and icon are on your home screen. You can tuck it inside a folder.
And this website?
No cookies, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no embedded social feeds. If you email to hear about the iPhone version, that address is used for that one message and then deleted.
